GOV. BESHEAR SIGNS SB90; PROCESS ESTABLISHED FOR UNCLAIMED FUNDS

Gov. Steve Beshear has signed Senate Bill 90, legislation dealing with unclaimed inmate funds that was supported by the KJA.

The legislation was sponsored by Sen. Ernie Harris, R-Crestwood. It creates a new section of the Kentucky Revised Statutes (KRS) Chapter 441 that provides a process for returning unclaimed funds in an inmate or canteen account. After a prisoner is released, the unclaimed money is turned over to the county fiscal court after three years. Read the legislation:
