Kentucky Jailers Association Board Meeting

Meeting Minutes: March 24, 2014

-Call to order at 1:03 pm

-Prayer by Rick Wilson

-Roll Call: excused members include Donna Miller, Rodney Ballard, Ricky Parnell, Mary Hammons



Unexcused: Joe Burchett

-Approval of Minutes: Dispense of the reading of the previous minutes

-Treasurer Report: Motion by Mike Humphrey, second by Danny Allen. Motion carries.

-Committee Reports:



Training - Joe Blue



- Training committee met and 90% is completed for the summer convention.



- Jailers prayer meeting at 7:30 each morning added to the training convention before classes start. Rick Wilson motions, seconded by the committee. Motion carries.



Scholarship - Danny Allen



- Scholarship applications have been mailed out to each county. Made changes and updates to scholarship applications. Deadline at the end of April



Nomination - Barry Brady



- Balled for President, Sergeant of Arms, and 20 board members will come out April 1st.



Jailer of the Year - Michael Humphrey



- Once the top 3 nominations are narrowed down they will be sent out to the entire committee.



Deputy Jailer of the Year - Eric Jones

Correct Care Solutions: Joe Blue

-Legislative Updates: Renee Craddock

-New Business:



- Bring in Clinton Blackburn and his immediate family to conference/banquet. Mike Humphrey motions that we provide a room and some type of plaque for Clinton. Barry Brady seconds. Eric Jones will be contacting all who needs to be contacted.

-Old Business:

-Member Concerns: Mary Hammons Resignation



- Brad Boyd motions to accept Mary’s resignation letter, seconded by Eric Vaughn. Motion carries.



- Brad Boyd motions to keep the position for life safety vacated until reelections. Ken Kells seconded. Motion carries.



- Don Hall motions that current language in by laws that state that the board needs one life-safety jailer, and one from a closed jail by removed and reworded and stated that the top 20 jailers will be allowed on the board. Eric Vaughn seconded. Motion carries.

-Board Meetings: Around the 1st of June or at the summer conference

 -Meeting was adjourned at 2:56 pm
